Daycare & Boarding

Looking for an alternative the traditional boarding and daycare? You've come to the right place. D2D offers an intimate, home atmosphere for your dogs to stay-n-play while you're at work or on vacation. There are no kennel-runs. We are very often refered to as a dogs' second home and I'm often refered to as "Auntie Amy"

ALL DOGS MUST BE EVALUATED FOR SOCIAL SKILLS FOR BOARDING & DAYCARE AND MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING THREE STEPS:

1. A PHONE INTERVIEW WITH THE OWNER
2. A MEET-N-GREET TOUR
3. TRIAL DAYCARE OR BOARD, DEPENDING ON WHAT SERVICE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

The two-visit requirement has been tried & tested ... It allows your dog several visits upon which to get accustomed to D2D which eases any stress and/or separation anxiety associated with new boarding & daycare. Under no circumstances will the two-visit requirement be waived as it typically results in disaster and we want your dogs to feel as comfortable here as they do at home.

ALL DOGS MUST BE CURRENT ON VACCINATIONS FOR RABIES, PARVO/DISTEMPER AND KENNEL COUGH.

** PLEASE SEE RULES & POLICES PAGE FOR OTHER REQUIREMENTS **

DAYCARE:
$25 per day per dog.  Monday, Wednesday & Friday only.  7am-6:00pm (with a 6:30pm grace period)

Some folks scoff at doggie day care but dogs are highly social animals and dislike solitude. Daycare satisfies their need for social activity with other dogs. Back in your parents or grandparents day, dogs were free to roam neighborhoods and do their own socializing. With the inception of leash laws, breed banning and other laws, lack of socialization is rampant and the result is anti-social, fearful and aggressive dog behavior. Doggie day care is essential to the 21st century dog.

Doggie Day Care is much like day care for children…you drop your dog off before you go to work and pick up on the way home from work.  During Day Care at "Dedicated To Dogs" your dog will get plenty of exercise in our huge fenced area or indoor play area, will make new friends with other friendly dogs, will get plenty of fresh air in our country setting and of course will get plenty of treats along with fresh water and a kiddie pool in the summer.

WHAT MAKES DAYCARE AT D2D DIFFERENT?  The daycare group at Dedicated To Dogs is kept small. The group is only allowed to get as big as approximately 10 dogs. Some daycare facilities have upwards of 20 and 30 dogs. This is an unnatural pack size. There are no packs in the wild of that size. Not to mention when you have groups that large, several staff members are required to over see such a large group. In a dogs mind there can be only ONE pack leader so if there is a staff of multiple people that varies from day to day that oversees the dogs there is no consistent pack leader. I work alone. I am the pack leader every day the dogs are here. It's a consistency that is a must for dogs. When the pack leader is clearly defined dogs know their place in the pack thus eliminating fights to establish leadership. Sure we get the occasional scuffle and scratch but Dedicated To Dogs has never experienced a full on dog fight. I owe this to my pack leader/group size philosophy as well as my evaluation process.

With our busy schedules, sometimes it's difficult to find the time to exercise our dogs. Lack of exercise can be a big factor for behavior problems in dogs. Without the proper exercise as an outlet for pent up energy, dogs can become destructive, restless, frustrated and difficult to control...in some cases they can become aggressive.  Even just one day per week will release some of that energy and give your dog much needed exercise as well as socialization with other playful dogs. You'll be amazed at the end of the day when you pick up your dog…they'll be relaxed, calm and ready for bed so you can get some things done around the house that you otherwise might not have had time or energy for. In addition to the exercise benefit, dogs are social animals…dogs are not solitary animals. Many dogs have difficulty staying home alone all day without any social contact. Day care alleviates both issues of exercise and socialization.

It's extremely important to socialize young puppies no matter what the breed! The younger you can get your dog exposed to other dogs, other people, new situations & scenarios, the better off your dog will be as an adult. I often ask new customers if their dog has been socialized with other dogs...The answer is very often "well I have other dogs at home." Unfortunately, for the dog, this is not quite the same. In a multiple dog home they typically all get along but it doesn't automatically accustom the dog to meeting new dogs in
unfamiliar territory. That's why it's important to take your dog to dog parks, doggie daycare, walks around the neighborhood to meet your neighbors dogs and play dates with other dogs.

Your dog's schedule at Dedicated To Dogs is very structured and will look something like this:

7:00-9:00am ARRIVALS (no drop offs before 7am or after 9am)
9:00-11:00am QUIET PLAY TIME INDOORS (vigorous play during these hours is avoided to prevent upset stomach and bloat from morning feedings at home)
11:00-2:00 OUTDOOR/INDOOR PLAY TIME
2:00-3:00 NAP TIME
3:00-4:00 OUTDOOR PLAY TIME
4:00-6:00 QUIET PLAY TIME & DEPARTURE

Some dogs don't do well in daycare or social groups due to age, lack of proper training and socialization during puppy development or due to natural aggression in the breed or from not being neutered. Therefore, day care is not for every dog. For the safety of myself, my dogs and my customer's dogs, we are sorry but we do not take the following adult purebreds for any service unless they have been coming here since puppyhood: Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chows, Akitas, Sharpais, Pit Bulls/American Staffordshire Terriers and German Shepherds. Mixes of these breeds will be considered upon evaluation.

If your budget is tight, don't worry we can work out a flexible day care schedule so your dog doesn't have to miss out on much needed socialization and exercise.

BOARDING:
$30 per day per dog (includes daycare)

Drop-off and pick-up times are available seven days a week and must be pre-arranged in advance.

You will not be allowed to drop off and then play it by ear on the pick up end; a one to two hour window of time must be pre-arranged prior to all trips.

Existing customers are recommended to book as far in advance as possible but short notice scheduling will be accomodate for frequent/existing customers. New customers MUST book at least ONE MONTH advance so there is enough time to fit in the meet-n-greet plus trial board/evaluation.  Under no circumstances will the two-visit requirement be waived as we want your dog to feel as comfortable here as they do at home.  All dogs must be crate trained. While most dogs will sleep together in a gated room, new dogs are required to sleep in a crate until they can be trusted to be out of the crate at night.  Keep in mind that some dogs may never graduate to this "veteran" status so crate training at some point in their life is key to being accepted for boarding at D2D.  If your dog is not crate-trained we can discuss how to achieve this in a positive way during your meet-n-greet.
